Capetonian Saxophonist, Composer and Producer Rus Nerwich has established himself as one of the South Africa's most creative and prolific recording and performing artists. Crossing genres from jazz and funk to world music and neo-soul, Rus's style is diverse, engaging and constantly evolving.

With eight album releases under his belt, each unveils another piece of Rus’s creative and musical identity.  Released in early 2017, 'The Whisperer' is Rus's sixth studio album.  It combines a variety of mediums and styles and is influenced by both contemporary culture and a deep reverence for musical history.  ‘Yilibaleni’, which means 'forget about it' in isiXhosa is the debut single from the album.  The track features vocals from Cape Town based Xhosa MC Kanyi Mavi and demonstrates Rus's ability to perfectly blend styles, creating a soulful, rhythmic fusion of note.

A memorable and engaging live performer, Rus has taken his unique sound and musical style on tour to France, Belgium, Canada, Argentina, Israel and beyond.  He has performed as a solo artist and collaborated with international artists including Belgian singer-songwriter N8N, producer Erik Rico and Dutch MC Pete Philly.  In late 2017, Rus is set to embark on a European and Canadian tour with concerts in Belgium, Toronto and Montreal.

Rus's debut 2004 album 'As Above, So Below' features original compositions based on Yiddish folk songs and haunting Synagogue chants.  It was well received by listeners and critics alike.  Delving deeper into his Jewish heritage, in 2005 Rus released 'Beyond The Walls', a monumental project which explored the music of the ghettos and camps of Nazi Germany.  With strong conceptual premise and a powerfully delivered performance, Rus received high acclaim from audiences for moving headline performances of 'Beyond The Walls' at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival and the Grahamstown Jazz Festival.

In 2006, Rus released his third album 'Mantras4ModernMan', an eclectic fusion of world music and jazz.  This was closely followed by 'Under The Poetree', a soul inspired electronic, hip-hop project which featured a host of celebrated South African jazz musicians and MCs and was nominated for a South African Music Award in the best urban pop category.  Fifth studio album 'The Wondering Who' was released in 2014.  A selection of multi-textured, rhythmic soundscapes, the release captivated and delighted audiences and critics.

Rus's talents don't stop at playing, recording and producing - he has recently made his first foray into children's books with the enchanting illustrated story 'One Fine Day Love Came To Visit' and he has two further books in the making.
